Hardworking Hip Hop artist Heath McNease has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds for a new film and album, both titled Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne is a 40 minute film about Heath McNease's experience touring in the frozen midwest. About the project, Heath writes:

My Name is Heath McNease. I'm a full time recording and touring musician. I am on the road more than 200 days a year. I've recorded 10 albums in the last 3 years. I am a singer/songwriter as well as a hip hop artist. I play in churches, clubs, bars, colleges, parking lots, coffee shops, and anywhere else people will have me. I got my degree in theatre, so acting has always been my first passion. Fort Wayne is an idea that I've had for 2 years. Its my first opportunity to share my love for acting, writing, producing, directing, and making music all at the same time.

The film is done. The album that accompanies it is done. They are completely ready to go. But it can't go any further without the help of my supporters. There's no way to really move forward until I can make back at least a portion of what I've spent to produce this film and make the accompanying record. The money will allow me to advertise, recoup, and find new avenues to help this project reach a larger audience. Without your help...it just remains a well done project that nobody gets to see, embrace, or share

I have spent well over 6500 dollars on the project so far, and I still have a few things to pay for on the mixing/engineering side for the soundtrack. If I can recoup 7500 dollars (and hopefully much more)...it will put me in a place to truly explore different avenues of advertising and sharing the project. Its difficult to get the word out when you're scared you're financially "playing scared." If I'm being completely transparent...I could release the project for free tomorrow. Thousands would see it. Many would love it. And that would be the end. That's what I've experienced many times before, because I have a desire to make my content free. Its also difficult to monetize a short film. So I'm trying to raise everything up front, so I can be aggressive in moving forward. Anything made above the amount I've asked for will simply go to allowing me the opportunity to do more projects like this in the very near future. When you take weeks away from touring to make a film that you're paying for...you not only are spending money...you're losing money by not being able to perform the job that pays your bills and allows you to save a little here and there. These are always concerns for me. Your money will never be frivolously spent. If you're a fan of mine, you already know I live a truly spartan existence...in a car or in host homes.

If I only make a portion of what I've asked for...rest assured the project will still come out. It just may not come out as soon as I would want, and it may not reach as many possible new fans as it could. There are TONS of perks for you to check out! As far as I know...there aren't many musicians out there writing, directing, and acting in their own original projects. Ideally...this film would allow me more opportunities in the tv/film industry as a writer, actor, or composer. I hate to say something as cliche as "I think the world could use more clean yet challenging entertainment", but I truly do believe that. And I would love to be a part of that community that seeks to entertain with heart and humility.
